Hello! I’m Giselle Au-Nhien Nguyen, a Vietnamese-Australian writer born and raised in Sydney, and based in Melbourne since 2012.
I write regularly for Daily Life and Scum, and have had my writing published by frankie, Rookie, The Sydney Morning Herald, BuzzFeed, Junkee, Vice, SBS, Kill Your Darlings, i-D and The Lifted Brow. I was also included in the 2016 feminist anthology Doing It: Women Tell the Truth About Great Sex.
I have spoken at festivals and events including National Young Writers’ Festival, Melbourne Writers Festival, Emerging Writers’ Festival, Women of Letters, Digital Writers’ Festival, Feminist Writers Festival, LISTEN conference and Cherchez La Femme, as well as appearing on ABC2’s Hack Live and various radio programs.
I am also an experienced copywriter and digital producer, having worked for clients and organisations including Nova Entertainment, Monash University, CARE Australia, MYER, Australian Radio Network, Melbourne Writers Festival and Ballarat International Foto Biennale.
I volunteer at Sticky Institute and self-publish zines. My hobbies and interests include jangle pop bands, smiling at animals, comic books, getting lost on my bike, vegan cooking and naps.
